GATHER 'ROUND THIS COZY WINTER SEASONAL BLEND
When creating seasonal blends like Winter Solstice, we aim to capture and celebrate the joy of that particular season. The blend should highlight the strength of the components, as well as present a totally new tasting experience. This winter season our roastery team has chosen two coffees that, when carefully blended, create a rich, full-bodied blend perfect for chilly mornings ahead.
Finca de Dios from Guatemala was chosen to provide the foundation of the blend. A longtime Madcap menu staple, Finca de Dios is enjoyed for its sweet yet balanced and clean cup, ideal for Winter Solstice. To bring out those winter fruits we see around the holidays, Karinga AB from Kenya was chosen as the second half of the blend. Karinga’s SL28 and Ruiru 11 varieties are grown and carefully processed just north of the capital of Nairobi in rich soil, resulting in lively notes of berries and citrus fruits.
Once blended, Winter Solstice captures a comforting flavor profile and heavier body, with tasting notes of plum, ganache, and cranberries, just in time to enjoy during the holidays.
