TASTE THE INSPIRING WORK OF THE RODRIGUEZ FAMILY
El Porvenir translates to “the future” or “things to come.” It also happens to be the very first coffee Madcap ever purchased back in 2008. We haven’t stopped yet, and it continues to be one of the three coffees we buy every year from the Rodriguez family. Headed by 4th generation farmer Gloria Rodriguez, the Rodriguez family operates five small farms located in the Apaneca region — known as the “Golden Coffee Belt” — in El Salvador. Intention and care are woven into every step of the process, from picking and separating the two varieties present in El Porvenir to washing and drying the cherries on raised patios. While the elevation of El Porvenir sits lower than most of our line-up, the area fosters a unique terroir benefitting from cool nights, constant wind, and the volcanoes surrounding the area. This year, we’re finding notes of brown sugar, rich black cherry and baking chocolate in this sweet yet round bodied cup.

OUR FARMERS
At Madcap, we believe the best coffee starts at the very beginning. We founded our company by forging relationships with the farmers who grow our coffee, learning their stories, and securing transparency and fair wages throughout our supply chain. Not only is this just the right way to do business, it also happens to lead to the best coffee, fruit to cup.
OUR ROASTERY
Madcap sets our quality standards first with our producers at origin, who only reserve the best of their crops for our roastery. Each coffee is first graded and scored by our producers before it comes to Madcap, where it is then sample roasted, cupped, and graded again by our green coffee committee and quality team. We blind score our coffees to filter any bias and those scores are then compared to our producers’ scores to ensure our quality standards are being met.
