Madcap has had the honor of being Juan Angel Izaguirre’s sole buyer since 2014, something we were eager to establish after meeting him and seeing his work ethic and dedication to producing quality coffee. Surrounded by some of the most revered coffee farms in Santa Barbara, Juan stands tall among his peers. In this coffee, expect sweet complexity and shining acidity, with notes of red apple, cane sugar, and toffee. In 2020, Hurricane Eta caused extreme damage to the region. As a result, Juan’s and other Santa Barbara farms produced only 25% of their typical cherry harvest. To help mitigate this low yield, Madcap paid an extra $1 per pound of coffee.
