A WONDERFULLY COMPLEX GEISHA FROM A YOUNG PRODUCER For years, we’ve marveled at the quality coming from Yulisa Carhuallocllo, and waiting for the opportunity to feature her coffee on our menu has been a lesson in patience. At just 26 years old, Yulisa placed 7th in the Peru Cup of Excellence last year. She manages her 3-hectare biodiverse farm, La Miel, where honeybees aid in pollination and steep slopes are planted with Geisha, Caturra, and Bourbon. Her Geisha is expressive and elegant with notes of pomelo, chamomile, and mandarin.
AN EXPRESSIVE ANAEROBIC YELLOW CATURRA FROM THE PRENTICE FAMILY Madcap has partnered with the Prentice family of Finca de Dios since 2009. Ellen inherited the farm from her father, later expanding coffee production across the property. Today, alongside their daughter Ashley, the Prentices oversee a 19-hectare farm spanning a range of microclimates. Ellen leads coffee growing and processing, Stuart continues to develop innovative infrastructure, and Ashley focuses on relationship management. As the family has explored alternative processing methods, we cupped our first anaerobically processed Yellow Caturra from the farm and immediately fell in love with its vibrant tropical yellow fruit profile.
