A FAMILY FARM FULL OF PROMISE

Upon visiting Juan Angel’s farms in Honduras in 2022, we learned that he passed along his highest elevation property, La Montaña, to his son Irvin to care for. Madcap has partnered with Juan’s family since 2014, and we’ve watched his sons become more involved with the coffee growing process. For the second year, we’re honored to release this special micro-lot coffee under Irvin Izaguirre’s name. La Montaña sits at 1850 MASL, high above its neighboring farms in Santa Barbara. The farm produces primarily the Pacas variety, and its cherries are harvested in small lots and transported by mule because of the uniquely high altitude and narrow footpaths. Such a high elevation comes with strong winds, but the family has utilized mulberry trees as windbreaks, planting more every year. Irvin’s coffee is marked with soft notes of red berries like raspberry, as well as cane sugar and rose.
